I grew up on a dairy farm near La Crosse, Wisconsin. For five generations, my family was very involved in the Lutheran church in that community. While participating in the confirmation process I accepted Jesus Christ as my lord and savior. I married Sue (Engelien) in 1985. We have four children (Emily (Hildreth), David, Joshua, and Hannah). We also have two wonderful grandsons (Carson and Kade).
I have been a career banker and mortgage banker. I have held senior leadership positions with companies ranging in size from a community bank to fortune 100 corporations. I view this as an opportunity to exhibit Christ-like servant leadership within the workplace.
In 1999, I accepted a position with Principal Financial Group and moved our family to Adel. Within a few weeks, we found New Hope Church. The welcoming and friendly community of New Hope quickly became our new church home and second family. I have served in many ministries at New Hope including Elder Board, building committee chairman, Worship, Men’s, life groups, AWANA, and many others.
Things I’m Thankful For:
Our children, grandchildren, and our New Hope family!
Playing with grandsons, riding my motorcycle, family vacations, playing board games, playing on the worship team, and of course…cheering for the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers!
Elf, Star Wars series, Lord of the Rings series.
Favorite Music Groups/CDs:
Having been involved with music nearly all my life (my brother and I sang our first duet in front of our church when I was 4), I have truly learned to enjoy nearly all kinds of music...(I even try to enjoy rap). I especially appreciate live performance and almost any acoustical music.
I Hope To Someday:
Travel extensively (for enjoyment) in the U.S. and some abroad. Ride motorcycle in the mountains. And, memorize at least one book of the Bible.
Psalm 121 1:1-2 “I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.”
